This is still an acoustic guitar but with the ability to plug into an amplifier, sound system etc. Often a acoustic electric has a cutaway which allows for play down lower on the fretboard. Some 12 string acoustic / electric guitars will also have a tuner built into the pre-amp which is very handy. You won't eed to go find your tuner. Just press the button and tune right on your guitar.
